Well, I thought my cockpit drain hoses might be leaking and disassembled the aft cabin bulkhead along with a trip to the "cellar" to check. The drain hoses are fine, but the muffler is not. Does anyone have any tips or information on the type and length of hose to use ?
Thanks,

Re: H-34 exhaust hose

Thanks, I will post the length when I get it measured.

Today I measured 112 inches of 2 inch ID hose. I hope it's not too hard to feed it back to the engine. Would it be better to push it through from inside? I think I might have made a mistake by pulling it all out without a better plan to get hose back in place.

I just did this job on my Legend 37 and there was a significant portion I could not access as it ran through the boats grid frame. I got the idea from an automotive forum to lube up the hose with "personal lubricant" and it worked fantastically. It was water based and it dried without residue, it also facilitated putting the hose over the various fittings.

Besides working, the expression of the people around my wife and I in the drugstore was priceless as we discussed the pros and cons of the various lubricants and how they would function.

How do you think about dish soap would work?
Have not have to replace the exhaust hose as of yet, but did use dish soap when replacing water heater exchanger hoses. Worked like a charm. Good luck

Well, I got down to the boat and replaced the exhaust hose. When transferring the hose clamps I noticed right away that the new hose had a bit larger OD, but it wasn't a problem. I used shampoo to help it feed and it worked well. The engine runs & sounds better with no leaks. Bit by bit...;)
