Exhaust Hose / Metal Can

Ronne,

The hose that came out was stamped Vetus. They appear to have a good reputation for exhaust systems. I found the hose online. The hose was a bit more expensive than what you can find at West Marine, Boaters World, etc. However, I don't want to have to do this again for a long time, so I went with the Vetus replacement hose. The hose came with a Lloyd's registry stamped on the hose and seems heavier built than the stuff I looked at in West Marine. I guessed at about 15 feet of hose. It looks like I'll have about 3 feet extra. The links are:

5) Rubber Exhaust Hose
The product number is SLANG 45 which says inside diameter of 1 3/4 inch but is actually stamped 45 mm (just a tad bit larger then 1 3/4 inch). It's currently at US$5.80 a foot. I don't recall the price I was quoted by West Marine. By the way, my boat has the Volvo MD6B engine. If yours is different, then the hose may be different size/length. I'm sure the hose available at West Marine would have been perfectly adequate if you decide to go that route.Group,

Does anyone know the internal details of the "metal can", or water lift I think it's called? Vetus is showing plastic water locks for their current wet exhaust systems. However, these have a much bigger footprint than the "metal can" that's in my boat. The can, on Renee, looks fine from the outside. But I'm wondering if there could be internal structure that is worn out. I'd like to keep what I have, if there isn't any reason to suspect it.
