I am in the process of restoring a 1978 h30 and have just completed the re-installation of the motor (last step prior to putting the boat back in the water). I installed a rebuilt yanmar SB12 (I believe this is the original style motor that came with the boat when new). My issue is that the previous owner had removed all the drive train and I have had to basically start from scratch and get everything new. Well I am to the point of installing a new exhaust system but I don't know what the configuration should be, or was originally installed. the motor has the pipe that combines the exhaust and cooling water (see photo), and I need everything after that. does anyone have a photo, or a diagram I can referrance? It doesn't need to be highly detailed with dimensions, I just need something to look at to know what parts I need to purchase and the best configuration within the boat. Thanks for your time and any help.

The exaust port on the h27 Cherubini was on the staboard quarter facing down on the chine of the stern above the waterline. The mixing elbow was connected to the muffler by a long hose and a shorter hose from the muffler to the through the hull port.

I have a 75 H30 with YSE12

On mine, there is a ~12" extension between the exhaust manifold ( part on the engine ) and the mixing elbow. This extends to the top of the engine compartment. There is then an exhaust flexable tube that runs to out the stern. No muffler, just straight exaust. I am going to the boat Friday, and I'll post a picture to show.

I have the exact replacement muffler for your boat. I have the same boat and bought a muffler when I thought I had a problem with the old one. Turns out it was a blocked mixing elbow instead. are you interested in the muffler? It is fiberglass and brand new.
You will need a short 2' or so piece of 2" exhaust hose, then a muffler, then a longer piece of 2" hose to run from the muffler to the exhaust thru hull. I am not sure of the length of the 2nd hose.
Also - I have not heard of any Hunter 30's that run without a muffler! I believe the engine needs the back pressure to run properly.

Thanks Rad88, but I am actually picking up my parts on this monday. I was able to find everything I needed and the configuration details on the Vetus web-site, thanks go to Steve for that suggestion, and thanks also to everyone else that took the time to respond to my question. This site and everyone on it has saved me a lot of time and frustration.
