Just looked at my registration for the first time since I bought the boat and the manufacture name on it is Jensenmar built '74 . I can't tell, is this the real manufacture's name or 7 years later do I find out I was duped when I bought the thing?

Somewhere in my mind

While collecting some data on my O'day 23, I remember reading an article that said Bangor Punta bought out a company called Jensen Marine. Bangor Punta corp. owned Bangor Punta Marine that operated the O'day name. I may be way off but it could have a relation. I am new to this information collecting. You are in the right place now. The guys on here are outstanding with their help. My hats off to them all. There are some very good articles on the internet related to the Daysailer. I have read them scanning for information on O'day. Good luck, James

Rod Johnson,

Jensen Marine

Jensen Marine was the builder of CAL and Ranger boats, in about 1965 or so they were bought by Bangor Punta as was O'DAY. It is possible that your boat was built in one of the Jensen Marine plants for O'Day, I think Bangor Punta might have had Jensen build some O'Days at their Costa Mesa, CA plant. Later, like in about 1980, Jensen Marine faded away and CAL and O'DAY were combined into one location, Florida at first, later Fall River, MA. They basically remained separate Divisions, but the offices and later production were consolidated.
