Evaluating Used C25

Went looking at a very clean 1983 C25 Swing Keel today,But was troubled by finding that the interior headlineris deformed (concave) where the forward lower shroudsbacking plate attaches inside. It looks as though (at some point) the upward stress of the shroud just pulled the plate and fiberglass headliner up and compressed it against the deck above. The deck shows no visible damage, but I don't know how serious a problem this isand if it is "fixable". This is on the port shroud, thesame area on the starboard shroud looks fine. Any opinions would be appreciated? Thanks, Barry

This won't be a problem if you hang a curtain over it. The real problem would be if your wife wanted the boat and you didn't get it for her.

Sounds bad

Sounds like the coring is rotten. It's not a fun job to replace coring so unless you have the expertise (or want to get the expertise in a big way) and the price is VERY cheap, walk away. There are plenty of used C25s out there that will be in better shape and be safer. LaDonna

Dear Duwanna Boat

This sounds suspiciously like my wife who is very smitten with the charm of the Catalina 25....so smitten she is willing to endure the pain of the mast falling down and the boat potentially sinking due to an uninspected 1500 pound swing keel and its mounting hardware (actually a "friend" noted not to worry about sinking they are easily raised by pumping the cabin full of ping pong balls)......Anyway, if this is my wife I don't think I could sleep on this boat without worrying......if this is not my wife - sorry!
