Escape Rumba Taking Water

I have pressure tested the hull and there are no leaks yet when I sail the hull takes in water - the amount depends on the conditions, lots of waves and high winds means more water, maybe a couple of pints or more in half an hour - in light conditions maybe a couple of pints in three hours - I am "baffled" by the cause as I have spent literally hours and hours trying to find the problem and I am at a loss to understand what's happening - any suggestions would be very much appreciated

I will guess the leak is around the rudder. Underway it will have more forces on it than at rest. Another sneaky spot like that is a center board trunk if aplicable.

I would be interested in knowing how you pressure tested the hull. Does the problem occur when on a port tack or starboard or either? Do you have an exterior drain for the anchor locker? Chuck

thanks for the reply - the rudder housing and the mast step bolt into "nuts" that are moulded into the polyethylene hull - I added some marine sealant around the mast step housing and I will do the same around the rudder housings too even though they appeared to be secure - I agree that something is moving when underway, and more so in rough conditions.

I pressure tested it with an air pump for inflating mattresses - puming air throught the hull drain then quickly re-inserting the drain plug - after 10 minutes there was still strong pressure when removing the plug.

other comments
- there is no centreboard housing as such although there is a rubber cushion against which the centreboard rests ad I sealed that too
- I don't know which tack is the worst and I don't know how I could determine that
- it's a 13 ft dinghy and doesn't have an anchor
