Hunter 420 Passage San Diego
I recently purchased a used Hunter 18.5 and had it put in the water and rigged professionally last year. It handled well in these waters but the expense of such work at the marina is prohibitive. I did not get a manual nor have I been able to track one down. How would those that have dealt with erecting the mast and rigging suggest it be done by myself. I would not think it too difficult because I was able to get it down with a couple of friends when it dragged the mooring in the October hurricane and came up on the beach. But I do not want to count on that every Spring and Fall. How do you folks do it? Thanks and I look forward to suggestions. Rick

hunter 18.5

I have a hunter 18.5. I raise the mast by myself. I made a mast supt with a roller on top. Just untie mast, roll back to attach to mast step. Run your jib halyard to the forestayfitting. Raise mast and tighten up jib halyard to hold mast up while attaching forestay. The 18.5 is a great boat. We sail the islands of ms. coast. Any questions post on "ask all sailors" or e-mail me.
