Has any H22 owners out there used the Interlux interprotect 2000 epoxy barrier coat system? I'm almost finished with all my blister repairs and will be ready to apply the barrier coat next weekend (I hope) and wondering how many kits this will take. Thanks, Mark

I used Interprotect 1000E on my H23

The instructions were clear and the epoxy went on very well. I did have to pay attention to the pot life, as trying to apply epoxy that's starting to set makes for an uneven finish and more sanding between coats. I applied 3 coats plus a coat of VC-Tar. In my experience, Interlux products have worked fine, as long as you follow the instructions. Good luck. Peter H23 "Raven"

I used Interlux 2000

When I first bought my boat in '95 I used a grinder on my keel and applied 2000E on it as a barrier coat. Now ten years later I haven't had do anything to it besides touch up rust spots every once and awhile. I'm very happy with the results. As most of us know the battle of rust on the cast iron keels is a never ending battle.

I used 2000 on my 26 this Spring before bottom painting. The instructions will indicated how many coats (5 or 6 as I recall) and how many gallons it will take for your length boat. Worth the effort I think.

epoxy

If you are putting epoxy barrier coats on the entire bottom, then make sure your boat hull has dried out for 3-4 months; otherwise, you may be sealing moisture in and then you will have problems. An old trick to determine moisture in the hull is to completly tape a piece of plastic against the bare hull and come back the following morning. If there is water inside, the hull is still wet. As for coats, 4-5 are suggested as 3 is minimal. 30 years of experience doing this kind of work.

Interlux 2000 - Good Company

Like others, I just followed the very complete Interprotect 2000 instructions. My final coat was two coats of VC17. They have a great website with lots of detail on their products. I had some questions about the temperature vs. time interval between coats and called Interlux directly. The person I talked with was very helpful. I have nothing but good things to say for Interlux.
