Anyone doing the Ensenada Race? I'm going on my dock neighbor's boat, a Pearson 42 named Spindrift. We're going in Cruising Non-Spinny, our class flag is X-Ray. Anyone want to place a small wager, say, a bottle of Captain Morgan or a case of Dose Equis on the outcome?

I think I wish I was going cruising class so we could run the engine. It looks to be a slow race. I'll be on a Cal 33 rating 141 and hope to finish before midnight Saturday. Have fun!

Thats me

That is just my nature ellis. Sometimes I just like to stir things up. I don't know it I would poke a wasp nest with a stick or not, but I would think about it. But I do notice things, and I notice that you and Jeff are the only posters on this thread who don't have a link to any personal information. How do you expect anything you say to be taken seriously if you, as does Jeff, hide any and all information about yourself. Of coure all the rest of us on here may just be dumb enough to post this info, not knowing that there are lurkers out there trying to steal our boat names, or sail numbers, or home towns or whatever. Why don't you just post up as anon.

J

Jeff

No, Ellis is not Jeff

But I like Ellis. The only reason I have a problem posting names is that I don't exactly trust everyone on the planet. Especially after some of the loose gear knocking around on this board. Example: Boat name published = owner name found = Documentation researched = name, address, phone number and with some effort SS# = mail theftcredits appsidentity theft. Unlike, but why put any identifying information on the net? At the very least, someone might get mad at me and slander my boat name, which many people know if my harbor. In any case, I'm just another sailor and not interesting enough for people to know insignificant details. Now let's sail! Yeeeehaw 19 hours and counting!

aaargh, there are two of them

Sorry guys. but there are two of us, jeff and ellis....I wasn't aware of the registry....but have just added my name and info to it.... I'm just a guy who loves to sail, but at the moment does most of it in my mind, seeing as i am living in Colorado right now. I am also the guy who would poke a wasp nest with a stick. done it...just figured that jeff was being singled out, if i saw a guy being jumped by a group of guys i would have to jump in whether i knew him or not. please feel free to read my info i have nothing to hide and nothing worth stealing...and both of my ex wives know where to find me. at this point i would add a smiley face if i knew how;)

started yet?

Has the race started yet....and if so, how is everyone doing. How are the winds? I always used to carry a sheet of plywood on my boat. Being a carpenter, the wind always started blowing whenever I picked one up at work, I figured it just might work on the boat;D

I think it has ended. Who won? Who finished?

Who finished last?

the very slow Ensenada Race

As you probably heard, it was a s-l-o-w one this year. We stalled out and were doing donuts before Laguna and the forecast was for more of the same. The skipper decided he didn't want to motor all the way to Ensenada, then have to motor back, so he made the decision to bail.

Larryw, common sense prevails!

We get caught in glassy calms on this side too.

Second In Class...

...for the second year. Finished 0407 Sunday. Slow race; wind on our nose, so it was a 125 mile tacking course. 90 degree wind shifts et al. Several times we did 360's with the wind on the nose all the way around. About half the fleet DNF'ed. Not great for the spinnaker classes. Anyhow, it's still a good race and a great place to end up. My crew and I pigged out at the Ensenada restaurants for two days. Motored back to LB including US immigration & customs in San Diego in 24 hours. I'm beat... more to follow. Who owes me a six-pack of Mexican beer? BTW, the send off party at BCYC was awesome as usual. Those Newport Beach gals must have a low-cleavage dress code. Worked for us old guys! Rick D.
