Engines for Oday Twelves

I own an Oday Twelve. I have oars for it, but I would like to use an electric motor. I was going to use plywood to sandwich the transom, thus protecting it. Has anyone used a small motor on such a sailboat?

i have a '36 lb' minnkota that i use on my javelin, and even used it on my mac 23. you can use a $30 lawn mower battery or small deep cycle battery, depending on use. smaller minnkotas would work, but would limit its use and wouldn't be much smaller/lighter. only problem might come from high winds or fast current.
