Rick, Gotta know what engine model and do a lookup in the manual. Or call a Yanmar dealer - they are usually very helpful. If the engine is fresh water cooled (self-contained) then there will probably not be any engine zincs. Check this by looking at the model number. If it ends with an "F" (e.g. 3HM35F) then it's fresh water cooled.

The zincs are in there.
There are at least two zincs in the 2QM20/3QM30 diesels. My 2QM20 has what looks like a round aluminum-foil type tag, the size of a dime and red in color, on the front of a square-headed stud. There is one on the front and I cannot visualize the other. My boat is in fresh-water and these studs are very tight so I have not replaced them. The zincs do come with the Yanmar kit for that engine.

Rick, Paul is right. Yanmar has advised me, regarding my 430, that there are no engine zincs. It's of concern to me since I've experienced severe corrosion problems (rapid zinc depletion), but Yanmar assures me I shouldn't be concerned. Hope they are right. Pete Burger S/V KAILANI

Volvo penta has none also
My 430 is fitted with a Volvo engine, and I went nuts looking for the zinc. None found, none in the manual, so I called volvo and they say that none is used because the improved metallurgy doesn't require any. Sure hope they are right!!!

Zinc plugs
On the Yanmar 2GM there are two sinc plugs, located on the right side of the block and on the rear of the block. I have changed the one in the rear but can't budge the stbd. side one.
