Hello guys,
Currently looking at the feasability of swapping out my old 2QM20 (in 79' 37ft Hunter cutter) with a newer model. Preferably a low hour 3JH2E 36 hp Yanmar. Does any one know if the footprint is close to the same as the old 2 banger or am I going to have to make some major modifications on my beams? Will be looking for the cooler, out gear and inst. panel also.
Thanx,
Wally

Wally, looking at the drawings, it looks like a good fit. From what I can see, the newer engine would have to go up about a half inch and the engine mounts are within about a half inch also.. Definitely would take some measuring and thinking, but does not look like a bad one from where I sit.

Thanks Claude,
Been working for the last 60 days straight so haven't had lot of time at the boat to measure. Rough but it affords me the bucks to do it.
By the way...know anybody on your side of the causeway that does this?
Thanks again

I chose a Nanni 30hp for my 37C for a couple of reasons. The footprint matched the old 3QM30 was the biggie. It also came stock with a 100 amp alternator as opposed to the Yanmar 3YM30's 60 amp. The Yanmar footprint was quite a bit narrower. I also ordered a more heavy duty water cooled tranny with it. Would I chose this engine again? Absolutely. Has built in oil change pump and is over 200lbs. lighter than the original. Saved a few dollars too.

Thanks Claude, Sandpiper,

The info will prove to be helpful I'm sure. Just trying to get stuff done before I retire.

Thanks again. Wally
