Engine throttle & gear shift controls

My outboard has the capability to add remote throttle and gear shift controls at the wheel. I will order the throttles from Edson but don't know how long the cables should be for this installation. They have to go from the outboard underneath the cockpit and up the pedestal. Looking for any tips on this type of installation.

Add a bit for a loop at the outboard

When I fitted a remote throttle to my hunter 22, the chap in the outboard centre said don't forget to allow 3 feet extra for a loop at the engine. If you don't, when you turn the engine the engine revs will change.
