I'm looking to replace my Yanmar engine stop cable. It looks like the Teleflex Morse Utility Cable complete with Knob and bracket. However, mine has a threaded piece where the shield end for securing to the engine but the Teleflex Morse catalogue shows a straight clean end at the shield where the small steel wire exit. Did I miss something or is mine a special order?

Probably Yanmar Part...

...although I replaced mine with a Morse but had to modify the cable clamp and holder to accommodate it. Good luck!

I think that is a Morse cable, try unscrewing the treaded part from the engine end of the cable. If I am right it is just threaded on over the jacket. could be left hand tread as well but try right first.

You can order it from a Yanmar dealer. They have a couple of different lengths available, so you should measure yours before you order.

Yes, you can order it from Yanmar and it comes in two different lengths. It should be fairly easy to estimate the distance between the location of the knob and the engine obviously taking into consideration the routing and its bends but you should not have to remove the old before having the replacement.

Just wondering whether the Stop Cable is Teleflex Morse or Yanmar made? I'll check with local Yanmar dealer. Thanks.

On the Hunter the kill cable is on the dashboard, down low and very inconveniently located. Has anyone managed to find a better spot for it? Even if I keep it down where Hunter installed it, I'd like to take if off the dashboard because pulling and pushing the cable puts a lot of pressure on the mounting screws for the board [though mine is now 5/16 starboard].

On mine, its conveniently located just astern port side from helms. Cable is light and easy for past 10 years.... till now with corrosion.
