Okay, I checked and I don't have those bleed screws that were mentioned. I did try to bleed that line between the filter and the pressure pump. There were some bubbles at first, then clean fuel. I started it again, and once more it died after five minutes! Help!!! Also, when I bled the system earlier, I hit the high pressure side too. Should the fuel be "gushing" out of the high pressure pump, or is a slow flow okay? Please tell me I don't have to replace the high pressure pump!! What is that procedure you mentioned to Alan? Thanks, Ernie

Air in 2QM lines

That you can bleed the system and run the engine for five minutes repeatedly indicates that air is entering the fuel system somewhere before the fuel lift pump. You are getting a flow of fuel when you bleed so we can probably rule out any plugging or fuel line restrictions. With all the things that were changed, you may have left a fitting loose or installed a filter gasket improperly. You are only concerned with things that are before the lift pump. You should retrace your steps and check your work. A good trick to let you know if you have made a good repair is to install a length of clear plastic tubing in the line that runs from the lift pump to the filter. It is a flexible hose that I think is about 1/4" ID. You can get double ended barb fittings, cut the existing line and insert the plastic. If you make a vertical turn in the plastic, going up and then down, you will see the air bubbles entering from the direction of the tank. You can then work on the suction side of the line and, with a few strokes of the lift pump handle, check your progress. depending on what type of tube and fittings you use, the sight tube can be left in the system or you can remove the tube and one of the fittings and hook up directly again. The possibility of a defective HP pump is virtually nil. I hope this helps you enjoy your vacation. I'll be here if you have to go further.
