Hunter 1976 27' Sailboat Wilmington
Hi, I have a boat a friend and i are working on fixing up. The engine is in ruff shape and i was wondering if anyone had any idea where i could find an online parts catalog for it or one i can download. There are several parts that the last owner shall we say left off the engine (major fixer upper) and we need to find out what to order and what some of it is called to order it.

Thanks for any help whatso ever.

Eddie

If you search using "SB8" and Hunter 27 there are several threads regarding what I believe is your engine, the Yanmar SB8. Here is one that includes a reference to the manual: http://forums.hunter.sailboatowners.com/showthread.php?p=540889&highlight=sb8 . In your neck of the woods the Yanmar dealer is Mack Boring, in NJ I think. Here in the Midwest we deal with Torresen and Marine Diesel Direct. They show part numbers for the SB8 manuals: http://www.marinedieseldirect.com/yanmar/shopping/manuals.php

The engine parts catalog is still available through a parts dealer. The costs for the book is approximately 71.00. I just got one of the parts books from Gulf Coast Composites in Kemah, TX. They had one in stock. The one you need is for the SB8 engine. Go through a parts dealer and have them show you how to read the codes. Some of the codes are tricky. Also, if you are doing the work yourself I recommend finding a shop repair manual that has the torquing specs, etc. Mack Boring will probably be able to help in your area, however, they may make you go through a distributor. Some of the parts are hard to find, such as the head, which I just replaced on my Hunter 27. Good luck and let me know if I can help. I would offer to copy the manual and send it to you but it is thick and I am not sure how well the pages copy.
