I have a Hunter 30,1980.I only get 2150 rpms with load no load 2500 rpms.I have a very dirty bottoms but i am wondering why only 2150 at dock.Any suggestions.
Prop pitch is the reason. Go with a lower pitch and you will increase revs. When my boat was re-proped from a two blade to three blade I was able to pick up 500 revs by lowering the pitch and thereby picked up knts/hr underway.
Clogged mixing elbow is also a possibility. Will it reach wide open throttle (appprox. 3200rpm) in neutral? If not, start with filters and work your way back. If your bottom is extremely fouled, the prop is also a mess and probably out of balance as well. I'd check rpm's in neutral first, then clean the prop if you're getting WOT and check rpm's under load again.
