I have just finished rebuilding my M25 and before I drop it back into the boat, I am considering replacing the engine mounts with the hope of a acheiving a quieter motoring experiance. Does anyone have any advise as to which mount to use - factory or something newer and better.

My boats an 1985 and the previous owner had upgraded the alt bracket, I am upgrading the heat exchanger to the 3" nickel/copper. Thanks

There was an article in the C-320 tech section of thwe June 2012 Mainsheet describing the replacement of the motor mounts for your engine. It included some information that suggests to me that there might have been a factory upgrade as a result of a recall. Most importantly, it describes how to properly align your driveline.

Follow Stu's advice on the motor mounts !

I used the Vetus K75's front and rear on my engine and the difference was AMAZING. I would not have believed my boat could run that smoothly.

I've seen some posts suggesting mixing the K50's and K75's (front/rear). My experience is just use the K75's and don't even think about using the stock mounts.

This is one of the best upgrades you can do to your Catalina.

I'm also interested in replacing my motor mounts. I currently have the galley pulled of to replace exhaust, waste, and fuel hoses. I do have a larger issue with my stringers though. The wood blocks are rotten inside there, I know because the most of the lag bolts that hold the motor mounts are not holding. I removed the loose ones and poked there with an awl, it went right into the wood! I was thinking of cutting a "slot" in the side of the stringers to fit a metal plate under and hold the new motor mounts with bolts and locking washer/nuts inside the stringers. Any thoughts? Has anyone done this when replacing the motor mounts?
