I'm getting my 1983 Catalina 30 to sell due to a move. Currently overhauling the M25 Engine. Hoping I can find replacement rubber for the engine mounts. Anybody have any suggestions? I cant justify investing over $800 to purchase new mounts.

If you have a Yanmar, I don't think there is a way to just replace the "rubber." The rubber on the Yanmar engine mounts are bonded to the metal. There are other brands that will work and are more cost effective. I was very happy with the quality and fit of the Ellogogen mounts for my Yanmar 4JH2E

While it will transmit a lot of vibrations, I remember seeing people burning off the old rubber and pouring polyurethane to create new sway bar link bushings.

There's got to be some vibration dampener mount for HVAC or other equipment that would work. Perhaps an industrial supply or tractor parts supplier has something?

I typed in "vibration dampener tractor motor mount" and got the following results:

I then typed in "stainless generator engine mounts" and came up with the following. This looks promising:

Leave it to Westerbeke to use an ordinary part and sell it for hundreds more

Sorry, didn't see the M25 in the OP question. Still though, I don't think it is wise to try and replace just the rubber given that most vibration dampers have the rubber bonded to the metal. In any case, unless it is specifically designed to be able to replace just the rubber, Jury-rigging something is one of the PO nightmares that would be passing on a potential catastrophic failure to the buyer. It is probably even worse than using household lamp cord to replace marine wiring.

If you can find replacement engine mounts with the proper ratings that fit without structural change to the way it mounts, then have at it but using something that looks right and you have to modify to make it work is again, passing on something to the buyer and we all have our ^&^%$ PO stories. don't be that guy.

Unless the motor mounts are completely destroyed, meaning the rubber is no longer bonded to the metal, I'd leave them alone. The cost and effort to replace them won't be reflected in the selling price.

Spend time and money on cleaning and polishing products and get the boat sparkling. Ask a fair price and it will sell.
