engine instrument senders

I have purchased a water temperature gauge and sender and a oil pressure gauge and sender (Veethree Instruments - Teleflex Heavy Duty). I have finally removed the plugs on the Yanmar 3GM30F. I assume the Yanmar threads are metric and the sender units are SAE. The temperature sender will actually screw in a ways. I could not get the pressure sender to screw on at all. I need some help in locating adapters to mate the senders to the Yanmar. Any help on what to get and where to get it would be much appreciated.

Careful

Be careful whening adding fittings on your engine and removing warning
lights and buzzer.
I added oil pressure and temperture guages and a year later the oil pressure fitting broke in half while motoring and oil all over and almost blew the motor.
I was very lucky.
I would rather add the oil and temp with out removing the warning buzzer.

If you use "T" fittings, you can leave the existing senders in place.

Tee

That is what did crack or break was the tee I was using and like I said had it on over a year before it broke and lucky I was at the helm and saw the gauge go to o and ran down to see the engine pan full of oil all over the place.
My 2007 H-36 3YM30 does not have oil gauge or temp gauge and some day soon
I will try putting a temp gauge some place near the engine water pump to see the engine temp but not fooling around with oil pressure at all and I always check the oil dip stick pretty much every day when out cruising and sailing and change the oil and filter more than really needed so not really worried about oil and do have the warning buzzer in case of a problem.

Thanks for the help. I will leave the alarm switches in place and use the ports with plugs in them as per Allan 12210 post from November of 2009. My plan is to go to NAPA with the plugs and senders and see what they can do. Maybe they can tell me where to go from there or at least what the threads really are. I will post exactly what the adapters are when I get them. Jacques

This Noland RS11 is the way to go IF you have a late model multi function device , like a Raymarine E7D or similar- puts all of your engine data in front of you on your plotter split screen, and the RS11 is only $250

Thanks Joker for the oil pressure adapter info from Pegasus. That was just what I was looking for. Neither NAPA or any other local auto parts store has anything like it. I will order it from Pegasus. I could not find the water temp adapter at Pegasus or other on line stores. Did you not need an adapter for your water temp sender or just screw it in as a close fit? Jacques

Consider putting the US sender in the outlet hose - thus no inconvenient adapters needed and no vibration fail threat either.

This one is from Summit Racing the hose barbs are .750". The sender port is threaded NPT so you use your US sender. Call Summit to verify your sender threads match their port.

You could even make one.
