Hi,

I have a 1998 Hunter 410. The engine cover had this two part acoustic/fire liner made first (outer layer) of some woven foil type material and then inner was a soft acoustic foam like material. It has severely decayed over the years to where the woven foil has separated and was in need of being removed. The inner foam is also decayed and flakes off so that has also been removed.

Does anyone have a suggestion to: replace it myself and where can i get some, or 2) who/what type of shop will do it for me?

Thanks

Hi Jenn
I did replace the jnsulation on my 1999 H410. You can find the information here under the Project link. http://sv-tranquilizer.blogspot.ch
If you need additional info, let me know. I bought the material from SBO.
Good luck!
Marco

Hi Marco, I looked at your blog and didn't see the engine liner refit? I also looked at SBO and didn't see the materials? Any suggestions?

Thanks

Sound Down foam. Comes in a couple different size kits, you can get it at Defender.com and others. It's a pretty easy job, once you get the old stuff off. Sticks in place with spray glue and a few screws. I found an electric kitchen carving knife to work well in cutting the pieces.
The material is two layers of acoustic foam with a high density layer between, and a foil face to reflect heat and protect the foam.
The original foam on my 1969 Columbia was crumbling so I took it out without really intending to replace it. I was shocked how loud the engine was without the foam, the stuff was working much better than I thought, so I went ahead and replaced it.
