My engine hour meter, located on the Nav Station, recently stopped counting. Where does it get its "Engine On" signal to stsrt counting and its power tp drive it? Would it come from the engine generator? I have a Yanmar 2GM20F on a Hunter 33.5 1990. I need to start troubleshooting it. Any suggestions or advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

You don't mention the boat so I'll give a generic

answer. The power comes from the hot side of the ignition key.(on side) But you'll have to track down the ground. These meters are just a 12 volt clock. Really simple. Don't confuse them with something like a tach. P.S. That's not fair. You just added the boat. :)

Also from the engine's wiring harness

I went to the boat show one year and talked to the Yanmar dealer. I have a different engine than the one discussed here, but the guy said that some of the engine has a wiring clip, usually white plastic/nylon connector. One of the wire in that clip is designed for a engine hour meter. A Yanmar engine service manual for the engine should show it.

hour meter

Any wire that produces 12v dc when the ignition switch is turned to the run position.
