Engine hatch

Has anyone experimented with a different and easier mechanism for opening/closing the engine hatch in the cockpit? Ther must be a more sophisticated way than the 8 bolts we have to unscrew every time we want to open it.
Thanks for your comment.

When I bought my boat Sea Legs the threads in the glass were worn out.
I thought about it long and hard and felt the factories soluton was
pretty near perfect. I screwed in stainless inserts and went back to
using screws. Most kinds of latches will stick up to trip over or will
not lock tight enough to stop leakage and It will still take a lot of
them so you will have to unlatch probably six or eight of them anyway.

Bob,

You should talk to Henk van Loon of the dutch Kring van VEGA-Zeilers.
(copyreader) Henk constructed sort of hinges.

Hi Peter.
Thank you for the suggestion.
Sorry for the delay in responding. The mails from the Vega forum automatically disappear in the bin. Tried to change the settings but up to now i did not manage to change it. Anyhow, here's my rep[ly.
