Engine cover removal

I have a Hunter 30 with a Yanmar 2GM20F. Is there an easy way to remove the wood cover/housing to allow easy access to the entire engine. I find that the front and side covers do not allow for much room. Heck, I can't even pour oil without being a contortionist. Most boats have the ability to remove this housing to give full acess to engines. Thanks Morris

Ours' is 1993. What year is yours.

Ours' is a 1993 H30T. It has this neet tableware storage right on top of the engine. Simply open the hatch and take out the two trays and now you are looking at the top of the engine. I use a long spout funnel when I change my oil. I also use a Tempo Oil Boy to extract the oil. Works real nice.

The 93 must be configured differently

The 93 Hunter 30 must be different than my 90 model. I have the steps leading down from topside but the laminated top over the engine does not appear to be removable. At least not easily. I'm sure it can be removed by major disassembly of the engine housing but it should not be that difficult. I guess Hunter wants you to have to spend money for 2 hours of labor jsut to gain access to the engine.
