Hello all I am in the process of changing all the hoses and flushing my coolant on my Yanmar 3HM35F. Currently, it has the green coolant in it. What type (make) and where do I get the orange stuff? Also, prior to the new coolant, should the system be flushed with a radiator flush that I use to use on my car and got from an auto supply place? Thanks all Greg 1986 3HM35F

Silicate free orange antifreeze

among them are Havoline Extended Life DEX-Cool 7994. Just make sure you thoroughly flush the entire system since they don't mix well - using clean water to flush will do.

Flush it

I used the Prestone special radiator flush on my Universal 25XP diesel. I set up robust concentration and allowed it to circulate for about an hour. I inserted the T on the Hot water line. Then a good flush with fresh water and fianlly a 50-50 mix of the long life orange antiffreeze. Remember radiator caps loose their function over time and this is a goood time to replace the cap. This method will do nothing for the seawater side of the heat exchanger. That needs to be removed and rodded with a bore brush if it has a scale build up.
