Engine compartment insulation.

I tried the product shown in the previous post. I had a terrible time getting it to stay put especially in horizontal areas. . It seemed that the adhesive was not strong enough to stand up to the heat in the engine compartment or to the cold. When I would open my engine compartment I would find it laying on top of my engine. This scared me some because of the moving parts in there and also not knowing if it would short something out. Eventually I had to remove it. I'm going with the full sheets that you buy by the foot next time and maybe just doubling it up to get the same thickness.
I used stuff from west marine that looks similar to what others posted. I didn't trust the adhesive though. What I did was bought a batch of plastic inserts (hollow tubes) that a #6 screw would fit in, screws and washers. Trimed the tubes to 3/4" used a pencil to punch holes in the foam pushed the inserts in and screwed the foam to the walls of the engine compartment.
Why would the much cheaper engine insulation pads used on automotive hoods not work just as well?
