Engine City Tech Diesel Class

I went to the Engine City Tech diesel engine classes last week in Union, NJ. It was a fantastic experience. They are put on by Mack Boring, the Yanmar distributor for the Eastern US.They provided a 2GM20F similar to the one in my 1987 Hunter 31. I removed and replaced the Raw Water Pump, Fuel Filter, Alternator, Thermostat, Heat Exchanger, Rocker Cover, V Belts,Hoses, Mixing Elbow and Torqued the Cylinder Head and Adjusted the Valves. After each exercise, we had to bleed the fuel lines and restart the engine. (I can bleed fuel lines blind-folded, now) This class has given me so much confidence in my engine and my relationship with it.I highly recommend these classes to anyone new to diesel engines.Rip EdmundsonDulcinea II, Hunter 31

Rip: Thanks a lot for the posting, but you left out a very crucial bit of info......what is their phone number/web address? Do you know their schedule for classes? I just spent a bunch of bucks having the local Yanmar dealer replace a gasket on the accessory section of my 2GMF; a job I probably could have done w/ a little training. Mack Boring

My wife attended one of their classes last year that was put on in conjunction with the National Women's Sailing Association (I think that's the name - the group that sponsors the women's sailing program at Sail Expo in AC) and loved it. (HOW cool is that - not only did I talk her into sailing but she volunteered to become the family grease monkey!)Anyway, there are 2 classes - a 1 day class and a 2 day hands-on class. They are offered monthly in Union, although it looks like they have some classes in Braintree, MA. The one day class is a prerequisite for the 2 day class.
