While sailing this weekend we encountered a sound that I've never heard on our 87' C27 with the M18 diesel. I started the motor and while it was idling we heard a rapid beeping sound. I assumed it was coming from my neighbor who we rafted up with, it sounded like a depth alarm. I soon realized it was from our boat. It then quit. Later in the afternoon while under sail it happened again, but nothing was on, engine wise. The sound appeared to be coming from the engine control panel. Correct me if I'm in error but isn't the low oil pressure audible warning the light/buzzer I hear when I turn the key to start the engine? This sound was a rapid beeping. Is there an audible alarm for the temperature? I'm thinking a sensor wire short.
