The engine alarm sound is very faint. Does it need replacing and if so any idea where to get the part?

Before replacing the parts, take off instrument panel mounted on the side of the pedestal and clean up the black ground wire contact points, then the contacts on as many other wires as you can.

Also check the sensor where it connects to the engine as well, might be a loose connection there or a bad sensor.

If you need a replacement buzzer check the "archives" as someone had found a reasonobly priced replacement as the Yanmar part is around $130.

Most Yanmar panels are mounted so that water hits the alarm. Eventually you hear it go off even though there is nothing wrong. I installed a NAPA generic alarm in the back of the panel and disconnected the original but left it in place for looks only. It was much louder than the original and could be heard even from below. It cost $25.00 at the time. Can always get one at a wreck yard for next to nothing.

Linda, I agree with John about first checking the connections, but if you have to replace the buzzer, pull the panel and check the buzzer for the manufacturer and part number. On our 1999 H340, we have a Seaward panel, not a Yanmar panel. See the top picture at this link.

If this is the panel you have, the buzzer part is BRP4535S-24-CD, and available from Allied Electronics for about 1/2 the price of what Seaward wanted. It was simple to replace, just don't overtighten the screws when you replace the panel, as it will crack.
