hey guys i made it safely to Vanuatu from American Samoa. I had intended on bypassing these islands and trying to make a straight shot into darwin, so i could have more time in the So Indian ocean, but had a few things give out in a storm (mainly my forestay chainplate). i am here now doing some repairs and then will be headed off to Australia. The trip so far has been very enjoyable. western samoa is the most beautiful on any i have visited, but vanuatu seems esspecially cool. The weather between Samoa and vanu. was the worst i have yet experienced. Knocked down twice, and washed overboard once. glad i was tied on... FYI to anyone interested in buying a Vega that is 100% outfitted for extended cruising, and esspeciallu solo sailing. Emma Gail will go on the market as soon as i return to the states, if i make it that far. She need nothing mechanically, and has been miticulously cared for and outfitted. Just a few scrathes in the paint and varnish from normeal wear and tear. I will include a list of all the accompanying gear in a later post. But the Boat and ALL(more than you'll ever need) associated gear will go for $20,000 US$ all you will need to cruise is food, fuel. She is completely tricked out. so if you are in the market and don't look forward to spending a lot of time and $$$$ trying to outfit a boat, then let me know. Cheers and fair winds

Kenneth ... wow .... sounds like you are having a great adventure ... maybe that should be in CAPITALS!

I'm curious about the forestay chain plate: was it the original, or did you strengthen it before leaving? I guess you were fortunate not to loose the mast!

Emma Gail for sale: Are you looking at a bigger boat, or just done sailin'? I guess getting washed overboard changes one's outlook on things.

May you get better weather from now on, keep that tether on, and enjoy Australia.

Kenneth,
I sailed from Vanuatu to Bundaberg, AU back in 2007. Vanuatu is one of my most favorite island groups. Some of the outer island are fantastic to visit. I could have stayed there a year. And the people were great. I hope you get a chance to spend some time there before heading on.
