well cats the gear is stowed and the engine is running. picking up the anchor in a few and headed south to Tahiti and Bora Bora. should be a 7 day passage. will ley y'all know when I arrive. a side note, have lost and retrieved 2 anchors due to my rode chaffing. if planning on any serious cruising I would recommend gong with 200' of 1/4" chain. I have added lots of water up front to see if the weight would be an issue and it is NOT. (My windlass dumps mine into the compartment just aft the forward water tank.) As soon as I get somewhere a little less expensive I will be converting fronm the 90' + 3 strand to this all chain set up. My fortress hasn't held well in any conditions, but the Bruce/Claw really digs in. The Delta has a tendancy to drag a little but resets alright. but I do think that you would need a combination of anchors to take advantage of the various holding conditions. Cheers to you all.

Fairwinds and safe passage, Kenneth.
Thanks for the info on anchors. I agree: Bruce anchors are great ... I have a pair of them aboard, a 10kg and a 7kg.

Yes, speaking of anchors, the previous owner left me with FOUR danfourth style anchors. They work great in the chesapeake, but I was always wondering why he had so many. He must have found a yard sale.rb
