This is going to seem funny but there is no emergency tiller on my boat, no tiller handle, no tiller assembly etc. Where can I buy a replacement tiller assembly...any ideas?

Can't cruise without it, I was once stuck outside of FL and the cable on my wheel steering snapped...not fun!

Thanks Steve,

the odd thing is that the hole in which one would slide the pole into is no longer there! I'll have to recut the hole and go from there.

Thanks again!

What year is your 30'? Mine is a 1980 and it has a different set up. It has a metal emergency tiller that you will need to left up the back seat and you will see the tiller shaft. It should have a bolt throw it. That is the location the emergency tiller will connect.

Ditto what Amos said. Mine is a 1980 and there is no hole. The emergency tiller fits on the rudder post when the back seat is lifted.

Same on my 83 H-30. Lift the rear seat and the emergency tiller slips on top of the rudder post

Randy, You do have an enigma! I have the earlier model (1979) with the opening in the helm seat and the insert pole.
If yours is an '80 or later it had an opening helm seat. I doubt that any one would glass shut the hinged seat lid, but stranger things have been known to happen.
That said, perhaps some Previous Owner glassed the access hole, not having the pole and not knowing what the access hole was for.
To confirm your situation, remove the aft bulkhead in the quarter berth. (Two screws at the bottom and one or two at the top, push at the bottom, pull at the top and sides.) The engine panel sits directly behind the left side of the bulkhead, with delicate wires and connections.
See if the rudder tube meets the underside of the helm seat with fiberglass threads running left and right, fore and aft, where the patch would have to be located.
If I am right, you can re-cut the hole, install a new access port and have the tube made up at a machine shop. Let me know and I'll send you up-close pics and specs.
