Emerald Bay, Santa Catalina Island

Bavaria 38E Alamitos Bay
Emerald Bay on Catalina Island’s northwest coast is an inviting destination, offering much scenic beauty of water below and surroundings above. However, it has the well-deserved reputation of being rocky-rolly in the evenings and into the night, more so than some of the others. Thus on average, it’s a bit less populated than the coves nearer the village of Two Harbors, about 3 n.mi. hence. Yesterday, the weekenders cleared out leaving spacious comfort for us remaining. Only modest water motion about the last two evenings, so rocking was not too uncomfortable. Our first return here after many years of “avoiding” this Bay.

Viewing East from mooring Foxtrot 21! Long Point (toward Avalon) is in the distance; Two Harbors lies around and beyond the nearest point.
