Hello, everyone. Please take a moment to read this message that may
have some relevance to everyone who owns or is interested in Vegas.
I am the person Yahoo calls the "owner" of this list--which means only
that I started it originally as a way for people with Vega interests to
swap information and so on. The list itself is a free service provided
by Yahoo Groups, and the list is not officially affiliated with any Vega
association, although it often functions as a way to spread information
within and among Vega associations. Hopefully the members of this list
have been generally satisfied with how it performs. It is an
"unmoderated" list, meaning that all members are free to post messages
that are sent to all members, and generally I'm pleased how all
correspondents have stayed "on topic" and not used the list for other
kinds of messages that might lead some members to drop out. As we
approach the second anniversary of the list's existence in April, I see
we currently have 226 members! It's humbling to realize that 226 people
may be reading this message--a thought we should probably always keep in
mind when we post messages.
Here's the question for today. Thomas Hamill, a longtime list member
and co-moderator, has observed that as new people join the list, certain
questions are asked over and over: how to join the US Vega Association
(and the European sister associations), how to order Albin parts, etc.
He suggests we put this basic information in the "description" of the
AlbinVega group on the Yahoo Groups site--this is seen by everyone
signing up and, I believe, is sent to new members. I think this is a
great idea. (And we can continue to add more such information later
on.) But I don't want to put people's names and email or other
addresses etc. in that description without your permission. So, those
several or many of you who run the associations or have basic
information you think a large number of Vega owners would like to have,
please send an email specifying the information you would like to share
(such as how to join an association or get a handbook or order parts)
and I'll compile it all and add it to the group's description for
everyone to see so that you're not perpetually answering the same
questions over and over. (In the future we may also use other group
functions, such as files to download or the database function, but for
now this description area seems a perfect start.)
Thanks, everyone!
