I have an 2005 hunter 33 with original Ray Marine Chart plotter
Model RC435. The unit was reset a year ago by factory, however, know it got strange. I put a new card in it and it works when it wants to work. Thus, I was told by Ray Marine(now FLIR)
that the antenae is bad and it is not replaceable. So I would need to purchase new equipment?

I also am trying to replace the cockpit mic which is cabled through the vessel all the way to interior radio, another problem, sine the connecter eroded at the helm. How can one fish the cable out?

Curios sailor Tom:confused:

I have found all my 12 yr old Raymarine equipement is obsolete so good luck with that. As for running wires to the helm, I have torn my boaqt apart several times running wires here and there including several to the helm. You just need to dig into it and find out where they go. It will likely not be easy but it can be done.

Order the digikey.com catalog and search through the connectors section to find a replacement end for the remote mic. The web site is not as handy as it does not have a lot of the engineering drawings with the measurements.
If you are at all handy, google "home brew gps antenna" It ain't rocket science. I had a similar problem and initially just took the unit apart to find the coax cable had rusted off the circuit board. after repairing it it worked great for three years. Unfortunately in the repair I lost one of the screws to Posiden and my replacement was not as water tight as the factory version. I went with the "turn stile" type double dipole which cost nothing as I had the brass plate, copper wire and PCB circuit board in the junk drawer. Note that you will need to determine if the GPS unit supplies power over the coax to the antenna. Once you have the antenna off make sure the coax center conductor and outer sheath are DISCONNECTED and then turn the GPS unit on and measure for voltage (1-5 volts) across the center to sheath.

Work

All the wires run into the stainless round pipe down under the floor down into the cabin and you need to start taking things a part and tracing the wires.
How about contacting the maker of your mic and get a new short connector and splice into behind where the mic plugs into.
Have you. tied spraying X corrision and use electrical lube on all connectors.
E-Bay has many older models
