Peggy, We bought your book and love it to death. We have never had a bad smell or any problem on our 1994 H29.5 head. We are looking at stepping up to a bigger boat and ran across.... "The head is equipped with a Lectra San discharge sanitation system which electrically treats waste so that no holding tank is required." Can you please explain the pro's and con's to this system and any concerns? I'm sure you may have address this in the past, but I could not find a posting. Thanks Bryan

You'll love the Lectra/San

Quite a few people here have one. It's a USCG certified Type I MSD (treatment device), legal in all waters except those specifically designated "no discharge"...and there aren't any--with the possible exception of a few small harbors or marinas--within at least 100 miles of you. You can read all about it here (the complete manual): http://www.raritaneng.com/products/waste_treatment/lectrasan.html Use it and maintain it according to directions and it'll give you years of trouble-free service. All of the above assuming that the surveyor doesn't find any deal breaker problems with the boat. You DO intend to make any offer "subject to survey?"
