Electrical Wiring Question

I'm rewiring our Vega this year (its all original) and have a hopefully easy question. I've
mapped everything out and I'm using a automatic battery paralleling switch, along with a 1-
2-both-off isolation switch (along with fusing in all the right places per Mr. Calder). I've got
a wind generator with a shutoff switch. I've also read Spurs Guide, the 12V Doctor and
Calder's Boat Owners Guide. Unfortunately, I just can't find the preferred method for wiring
the alternator back to the battery bank for charging. I have the original MD6A with what
appears to be the original alternator (which still works, because I tested it this summer),
which currently runs positive directly back to the battery bank (there was only one bank
before the rewiring). Did I miss something in one of these books?

Should the alternator run back (from the positive on the alternator) directly to one of the
battery banks, to the positive DC distro panel, or to the "both" on the 1-2-both-off switch?

Thanks,
JH

Put the alternator charge wire to the "common" on the switch. This means that If you have it in "1" then it will charge Battery 1, if on "2" then it will charge Battery 2, if on both (1+2) then it will charge both batteries.
