If I install a marine approved electrical box so that I can use an inverter to wire my electrical plugs inside my boat, is their a type of wire (i.e. is insulated wire acceptable or does it have to be marine grade) that must be used to meet the standards for a successful survey?
THanks

Yep, marine wire.

"Just do it" as the ad says. Maine Sail and others can quote the regulations so I'll leave that to them. But I never do otherwise on the boat. And I get it from here: http://bestboatwire.com/

Standards call for stranded wire, never Romex, on a boat. Preferably tinned stranded.

Reason: boats flex, which stranded wire can handle without breaking. Romex will break if it's flexed enough times.

And yes, it should be insulated.
