While rewiring my compass light, I realized that the current location for the electrical panel on my '81 H33 is not in the most accessible spot (for me). Has any other H33 owner moved their panel? If so, where did you put it? Is it hinged for easier access? Is there any way to make it more accessible for wiring in its current position, on the face of the port quarter berth storage area? Thanks, Scott

Yes

In order; yes, on the bulkhead over the port quarterberth, (obove where it was), yes, not that I found. Who buys mid size sailboats? Middle aged guys. What can't they do? SEE close or far away or crane their arthritic necks, or get down on their knees to try to see the markings on switchs at the floor. I mad up a panel box with a door that swings down providing access to the switches and wiring. I mounted the original panel as well as an additional bank of switches with LED pilots, a volt meter ti indicate state of charge, and a couple of lighter socket outlets. Also wired in about a dozen fuse holders for more sensitive items. Wires run inthe space between the cockpit and the inner wall. VHF and stereo mount above on a swivel arrangement. I thought I had pictures somewhere but can't find them. Easy enough to take more this weekend if you think they'll help. I seem to recall others have done similar work. samlust@verizon.net

Been there done that

Scott, I did that move to the same place Sam describes his...on the bulkhead above the "nav" berth. If you're standing at the stove, facing outboard, my panel is at your left sholder. Back in August of 2002 I posted the whole project onto the Photo Forum. I posted the link here. But if the link doesn't work by taking you directly there the posting date was 8/5/02 and the article title is "Moving My Breker Panel" Take a look and if you've got any questions give me a shout. I'd be happy to help. There are some things I'd do a little differently, in hindsight, but overall I'm very happy with the outcome.

Thank-you

Thank-you for all the information. I was looking at that big empty space on the bulkhead, and all your info and pics will help greatly. I can't put it on the engine compartment panel as that is where my two battery switches are located. Thanks again, Scott
