electrical/battery bank question

I want 4 8d batteries in my house bank with an inverter. 36 foot catalina. However, it appears they would have to be placed at various places on the boat. Can a battery bank work effectively if one is 12 feet or more from another if I use 00 wire? Possibly, from one end of the boat to the other. Maybe two aft and two under the v berth?

Look at 6V.

Have you considered 6V batteries. 2 - 6v will provide 180-350 amps per pair. I must assume you would have room and your back with less space.
