Hello All,
Well for my first post is a question on something I broke!!! lol I think I did anyways.
This is with a Simpson Lawrence on a 2000 H340. Pulling my anchor yesterday morning everthing was going fine until I got to the chain. Don't know how it happened, but the chain got twisted and bound up. It took me holding the anchor up to release the tension then unwrapping the bind. Now the windlass is locked up. When I hit one of the switches I can hear the motor kick, but it still does not turn. Could it still be a fuse? The lock is off. I do not have a blow up map of it to break it down. Or should I? Any ideas?

Thank,
Jeremy

Sounds like maybe the chain stripper is bent and jammed the gypsy. Try loosening the drum to release the gypsy and try it.

Not really clear from your description...

Are you hearing the motor kick or just the relay. If it's just the relay, on my boat I have the circuit breaker on the main electric panel, and then a separate lever type breaker under the nav table. If my lever breaker is tripped, which it will on an overload like you describe, I will get only a click when pressing up or down buttons. Hope this helps, because then your fix is just to find and reset the second breaker.

Re: Not really clear from your description...

Doesn't that thing have a socket for a winch handle? ? Try turning it by hand and see what the problem is.

Maybe the chain is backed up from down in the anchor locker and jammed the chain in the hole down to the locker???

My boat came new from Hunters with the main windlass motor connected to the engine start battery via a 75 amp thermal overload and the push buttons and the main up/down breaker wired to the house battery.
Thus the up/down breaker would operate with a loud click even though the main motor breaker was tripped.

Well thanks everyone. It was as Mulf said, however my 2nd breaker is in the Starboard Stern seat compartment with the battery charger and batteries not under the Nav. table.
