The Electric Windlass - type LeroySomer S 800 or S 801 - stopped responding. There is no light in the remote control in the cockpit and there is no response when pressing the buttons on the motor or the remote.

I have replaced two 100A fuses placed in the engine room as I thought they were used by the Windlass. But nothing happend.

Does anybody know what the problem can be ?

and does anybody know how the anchor is operated manually ?

I am not familiar with your particular windlass, but often they have two motors - one for up and one for down. If both seem dead, the I would think you have a wiring problem from the source. A number of things can be wrong. A breaker could be tripped, or the breaker itself could have gone bad. The switch that applies the juice could be bad. You could have a loose wire or a corroded wire connection. You could have a dead battery. If the wiring checks out (power or juice to the unit) then it might be a motor problem. If the up motor is burned out, then maybe the other motor works and to get you by until you find parts, you can use the down motor for the up motor by swapping them out. You just have to start trouble shooting and a good place to start is to make sure you have power to the windlass when you turn the switch. One last thing, if you have a main switch for the windlass, did you forget to turn that on?

I have similar problem with my windlass of my Beneteau 351. At first i noted that the small relay which is a box just mext the breaker was burnned. I changed and it work but sudendly it stop again, I checked and the new relay was burnned again. So what I did..then change the wiring electric cable of the windlass, and then I works fine from then. So check if the wiring of your windlass is okey..!

thank you very much for your comments. I have not been able to identify what causes the problem yet. I´ll keep you posted

Solved the problem and am ashamed to tell the solution. A blue system fuse next to the 3 on/off handles had to be reset. And voila the windlass works perfect. Would one have it activated when sailing (a red light on the control panel is lit when it is activated )
