I have a Lewmar electric winch, it is a 1998 OP2 model and it is quite noisy when under power. Is this normal or is the noise a sign of a problem. thanks. Ray

Mine has had a distintive whine from day one. When I asked a factory rep about the noise at a boat show, he allowed that it was normal. He claimed it was due to the type of gearbox in the unit. Nine seasons, and never a problem. (oops, now I've done it...)
