Very cool. The Winch Rite reminds me of a toy. Is yours on the Milwaukee or does it work that good with other tools? Would be worth the $50 just to have it available to go up the mast.

Milwalkee has a new generation brushless drill now. Higher torque than the one shown in the post and much lighter.

HD sells it for US$299 or CAD$349. I got one in the state. Looking fwd to try it.

Yes the winch bit is needed.

I do not think it was a toy. I used it alot, while my arm healed, the down side was took one hour to recharge.

As we get older, we use the electric winch for every thing......:+1:

The Milwaukee weight is more, but I now have two batteries and do not have to wait for or remember to recharge the battery after heavy useage.

AND HERE IS THE REST OF THE STORY....

I bought the Winchrite in 2010 from Defender, when I was having a problem with my arm, after alot of use during the 2012 summer in August, the battery was low, I used it to raise the dinghy and it went dead.

In December 2012 and the warranty was way out of date, anyway I emailed Winchrite and told them my problem......they said send it back.......January 2013 they sent me a brand new one......what can I say:dance:

Helen likes the electric winch also.......she knows if I fall overboard she can winch me in.:snooty:

Anyone want a good deal on a new Winchrite  .....$250 plus shipping.

I do not think it was a toy:
The way it looked reminded me of one. I messed around with one at the Annapolis show last year and was pretty impressed. Was actually considering buying one for going aloft so my wife would be more comfortable when I have to. I like the one with the Milwaukee drill though. Multi-purpose.

Just another data point - I have used a WinchRite for the last two years and love it. When the battery seems to need a charge I have the option of 12 v or 110 v. For me it is easier to use the WR than a right angle drill but obviously both work for us old guys!

Keep it dry.

You have a point there, I think the WinchRite is water proof, but the Milwaukee is not.

I guess I'll buy one of those Milwaukee covers they advertise .........the biggest problem for me over the time was to remember to recharge the battery.
