Maxwell Vertical windless
I too sail on an inland lake. I have the stock anchor with 20' of chain. I install the Maxwell vertical windless (500 lb.) in the center of the foredeck about a foot back from the anchor locker with a remote step switch 2'-3' back from that near the starboard toe rail for ease of tailing the line. The primary function is to assist in retrieving the anchor, but also serves equal amounts of time adjusting the med mooring lines. It also come in real handy to winch the boat up to the mooring or the dock on windy days since it can pull in all directions. Had I to do it over, I would opt for the 1200lb. model. I under estimated how useful this device is and on those windy days (when I need it the most) I can easily max out the capacity.
