Electric winch motor replacement.

Look for ideas to source a replacement motor for the Barient 45 winch on my 92, Legend 43. Not much on the motor for info. Just has “12v. 0989” stamped into the case. My search on the forums turned up a few threads on Barient issues but none that relate to power winches. Even the Aussi guys that sell Barient parts don’t mention electric on their site. I did find a comment that it might be a Honeywell. 3/4 hp running at 1700 rpm? But that’s not confirmed. :(
Two yrs ago. Had it rebuilt by my local motor generator guy but this time it looks like the armature is toast so I need a new motor ant the connection to the winch is quite unique (not just a splined shaft). My thinking is in the 80s and 90s there must have been 100s of these on C&c Benne,s Hunters and Catalina’s ... where did they all go?
Thought or ideas much appreciated

Motor shops can rewind armatures. Try google for that.

Most likely these were custom motors. The speed would be quite slow. Somewhat similar to a car starter.
I certainly recall a ton of C&C custom yachts using these big Barients. The cost was stratospheric for the larger drum sizes.
C&C used coffee grinders on their larger custom projects.
When you ordered a C&C custom, it was a notable purchase. From what I understood, you got a finsl bill when the yacht was complete. They built to high standards, and they always had a backlog.
