Anyone had experience using a small electric outboard? We've got a 1974 O'Day 20 and I'm tired of messing around with the Honda 75. Nice little motor, but me and small gas engines just don't get along. (It's also pretty heavy to pull in and out of the water while sailing; I've got back issues.) All we need is something that will move the boat in and out of the dock, and putt-putt us when the wind dies. We're strictly lake sailors (so far), so power isn't an issue. Ideas? Required size/power?

minnkota

a minnkota 50/55 will take care of you just fine, biggest problem is with currents and wind but in a lake they work good. i have a 35 minnkota and it is enough for my mac 23 and even on my mirage236. the 50 is the same size as a 35, but mor4 powerful. just run it with a deep cycle battery. you will have several hours runng between charging. works well on my 7.5' dink too.
