Electric Motor

I had an electric motor on my venture 21 (about a 1200 lb boat). For what I used it for it worked great. It was slow (35 lb thrust it think) but got me in and out of the marina. I even used it to push me into some wind. I liked it being quiet and the fact that it never died going in and out of the marina. It even was used to come in when the wind died-I wouldn't win any races and would be afraid to go out too far. It would have problems if the wind picked up too much or you had any kind of current. For lake sailing were you only have to go short distances it was fine and I wouldn't mind having one for a second motor. I also used only one battery and it never ran down below 75% charged. It was better than nothing! Geoff Atkinson
