Electric macerating head?

Peggy, I've been blessed with a new Catalina 36. The unfortunate part of that blessing is the $%@# 17 gallon holding tank. As things currently stand, we have to pump out at least once each weekend. (my wife willingly takes full responsibility, and refuses to walk up the hill to the on-shore facilities) I've been reading a lot recently about some of the electric macerating heads, and that they are pretty stingy with water. I'd be very interested in this, if it could make the most of a small holding tank. Should I look into this? If so, what brands/models do you recommend? Greg

I dunno how much you'd gain, Greg

The fresh water solenoid models are the only ones that use less flush water, and you'll trade about 25% more holding capacity over your manual toilet for some drain on your 12v electrical resources. Take a look at the Raritan Sea Era...all the specs are on the Raritan website at http://www.raritaneng.com Go to the installation and maintenance guide in PDF format for the water and power consumption. You might also want to read "flush with success" in the HM forum reference library...among other things it explains how cut way back on your flush water use with a manual toilet.

What about Vacuflush

Peggie, What about SeaLand's Vacuflush? They claim only a pint of water per flush. Is that possible?
