Remember? My M22 didn't come with a winch; and the online store selling Dutton-Lainson winches wouldn't ship to Hawaii :snooty: so I rigged a small 12-volt winch to do the job. It's in place now and I've moved on to other items necessary before we launch.

UPDATE: That company on the mainland decided they'd ship to Hawaii after all :doh:so now I have a brand-shpankin' new D-L brake winch.

That allows me to go back to a mechanical winch (which I'd prefer) on the keel; and keep the juice-winder for "other" projects. Automated mast raising system? Multi-purpose "crane" for lifting things up into the boat? Part of self-recovery system if I get grounded? hmmmm...

Anyway, for those who predicted I'd probably want a mechanical winch...yeah, we finally got one. :)

VBR,

Pat

Hey Nemosuit: Glad you got the brake winch. Electric is fine IF you don't have battery drain or some other electrical problem. I like armstrong power for the keel up/down. How is everything else going with prelaunch prep. Keep us posted. Fair Winds and Full Sails....
